Authority at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport lifted the temporary ban on the entry of visitors at airport terminals which was imposed on 26th October, 2015 fearing subversive activities. The embargo has been lifted since the morning today (April 17, 2016).
As per the previous announcement, visitors were not allowed to enter Shahjalal airport terminals on the ground of security reasons. It was said that the embargo would remain active until further notice.
Recent development of security in and around the airport acted as the key role to consider lifting off the embargo.
Now, visitors are allowed to enter the Shahjalal airport terminal concourse halls with tickets. To enter any of the concourse halls, visitors will have to buy tickets paying 300 BDT per person as before.
At the same time, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) circulated a notice for the passengers urging them not to bring any food items with them while traveling from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The authority suggested passengers to pack only personal essentials in their hand baggage and to avoid food items for security reasons.
