The terminals of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport are now open to its paid visitors. Embargo on visitor access at the terminals of the airport has been lifted from February 5 this year. Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) lifted the temporary ban on visitor access that was imposed following unstable political situation fearing violence from a religion based political party activists from 10th December last year. The terminals were set off-limit to the visitors still then.
During the period spanning from December 10 to February 5, visitors were not allowed to enter the concourse hall of the largest airport of Bangladesh to prevent it from unwanted situation. Visitors were not allowed to enter the concourse hall and ticket system entry was postponed for time being.
After the 10th Jatiya Sangsad Election held in 5th January this year, situation seemed to be under control and the authority lifted the temporary ban on entrance into airport concourse hall of all the terminals.
This measure taken by Civil Aviation Authority brought relief to the general public as they can now enter into the terminals paying BDT 300 to welcome their relatives or see them off.
