United Airways, the first privately owned airways in Bangladesh started the much awaited flight operations of its Dhaka to Doha flight. This is the only Dhaka to Doha flight of the leading local airliner.
The maiden flight from Dhaka to Doha was inaugurated formally yesterday night (14th May 2014). Capt. Tasbirul Ahmed Choudhury, Chairman and Managing Director of United Airways (BD) Ltd. inaugurated the operation of the flight as the chief guest. Among other guests Mr. Monirul Islam, Ex-Member of Parliament, Mr. Kazi Wahidul Alam Chowdhury, the Editor of The Bangladesh Monitor and other high officials of United Airways including Mr. Mohammad Ferdous Imam, Director (Administrations); Mr. Khurshid Alam Chowdhury, Director (Revenue), Mr. Shahab Uddin, Director (Engineering), Capt. M Elias, Director (Flight Operation) also attended the program.
In a press release, United Airways authority notified that the airline will operate two flights every week on Saturday and Wednesday in this route. For this flight, an MD-83 aircraft will fly with 167 passengers primarily. The flight will leave Dhaka for Doha at 1045 hours.
The fare of the Dhaka to Doha flight has been fixed at 23,936 BDT for oneway journey and 44,757 BDT for return journey. This fare is considered to be one of the cheapest in this route.
Including this one, United Airways is now operating flights in 11 international routes and 8 Domestic routes.
At present, the airline has a total of 11 aircraft which are one Dash-8-100, three ATR-72, five MD-83 and Two Airbus-310 aircrafts.
The airline is also operating flights to all major domestic routes namely Dhaka to Chittagong, Saidpur, Cox’s Bazar, Barisal, Jessore, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Ishwardi.
