Biman Bangladesh airlines will reopen its Dhaka to Frankfurt flight very soon. According to a news report published on its site, the national flag carrier of Bangladesh will restart its Dhaka to Frankfurt flights from 31st March 2014.
It has been a long since Biman operated its last flight on the Dhaka-Frankfurt route. Due to an acute aircraft shortage, Biman’s flight schedules collapsed, and the airline was forced to suspend operating flights on that route. In addition to the small number, age-old aircraft in Biman’s fleet added fuel to the suspension of demanded flight.
Frankfurt airport is one of Germany’s busiest airports and a world-class business & financial destination with a towering skyline to match. It is also home to many cultural attractions, museums, shopping and arts.
Biman will operate the flight twice weekly, occurring every Monday and Friday for this route. These flights will originate in Dhaka and connect to Frankfurt with a short stoppage in Rome, Italy. The airline will use one of its three newly acquired Boeing 777 aircraft on this route.
On the 11th of this month, Biman added 3rd of its four new generations Boeing 777 to its fleet, which replaced age-old DC-10 aircraft that have been the backbone of the fleet for a long time.
In 2008, the airline went into an agreement with Boeing to acquire ten new generation aircraft of 4 Boeing 777 300ERs, 2 Boeing 737-800 and 4 Boeing 787, the biggest ever deal in the history of the airline. Apart from the Boeings, the airline has 2 Airbus A 310s in the fleet.
The penultimate DC 10-30 flight on the Dhaka-Birmingham route was its final flight today (20th February 2014). This historic event will help Biman record its name in the world history of aviation.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines also announced a special fare for this flight as a limited-time offer. As per the announcement, Dhaka to Frankfurt return ticket will cost 63,097 BDT and Frankfurt to Dhaka return ticket will cost €497.45 per person.
